Located inside a beautifully restored former NatWest bank, Sanremo is, to me and my family, one of Bath’s most visually striking restaurants. The moment you step through its doors, you’re greeted with grand and elegant décor that blends historical charm with modern sophistication. Whether you're here for a leisurely lunch, a romantic dinner or a birthday meal, the atmosphere is warm, inviting, and effortlessly stylish.
Sanremo is all about quality ingredients and traditional Italian flavours and it certainly delivers. The menu features a mix of handmade pasta, fresh seafood and premium cuts of meat, offering something for everyone, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
From the moment you arrive, the staff at Sanremo's make you feel like a valued guest. Friendly, professional and attentive, their team works hard to deliver the smoothest of dining experiences. Due to the restaurant's popularity it can get really busy and service - on the very odd occasion - can be a little slow, but in my opinon the warmth and professionalism of the staff more than make up for it and you're never made to feel rushed to leave.
Sanremo isn’t the cheapest Italian restaurant in the centre of Bath, but the quality of the food and the stunning setting (check out their domed ceiling!) justify their prices. If you’re after premium ingredients, expertly prepared chef level dishes and a truly special dining experience then this is a place definitely worth visiting. I'd strongly recommend booking ahead.
Sanremo is one of my favourite Italian restaurants in Bath and I've never had a bad meal ever!

Tucked beneath the historic streets of Bath, Sotto Sotto is an underground restaurant that's set in a charming candle-lit cellar with vaulted ceilings making for an intimate and rustic interior that's perfect for romantic couples. If you’re looking for a memorable dining spot just steps from the Roman Baths, this restaurant is for you!
Sotto Sotto prides itself on the simplicity and authenticity of its Italian cuisine, focusing on high-quality ingredients rather than overcomplicated techniques. The result? Dishes, that in my opinion, are absolutely bursting with flavour.
Their menu caters for everyone, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free meals. If you’re craving homemade pasta, fresh seafood or succulent meats I am sure you'll find something for everyone on the menu!
One of the things I find that sets Sotto Sotto apart is its totally outstanding service. The staff are knowledgeable, always really friendly and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. From explaining the menu in detail to making expert recommendations, their attentiveness makes you feel like you're custom is really valued, make the entire dining experience a real joy.
Because of its small, intimate setting and outstanding reputation, Sotto Sotto books up quickly. If you’re planning a visit, it’s essential to reserve a table well in advance (like months in advance in some cases!!), especially for weekends and peak dining times.
Despite its central location and high-quality cuisine, Sotto Sotto is known for offering exceptional value. The prices are reasonable for the quality and experience, making it an accessible yet indulgent choice for both locals and visitors.
For my family Sotto Sotto always lives up to the hype. With its atmospheric underground setting to its incredible food and impeccable service, it’s easily one of my Bath city centre favourites.

Ponte Vecchio’s prime location on the riverside offers stunning views of Pulteney Bridge and the River Avon, making it one of Bath’s most scenic dining spots. The restaurant’s elegant yet relaxed atmosphere with a welcoming vibe, whether you are looking for a casual lunch or a special occasion dinner.
Ponte Vecchio prides itself on authentic Italian dishes, featuring fresh pasta, quality ingredients and a selection of daily specials too. The menu is varied enough to suit different tastes while staying true to Italian tradition.
I've always found the staff at Ponte Vecchio to be friendly, professional and attentive without being annoyingly intrusive. Service was efficient during both lunch and dinner when we've been there with faultless hospitality.
For a restaurant in such a prime location in the centre of Bath, Ponte Vecchio offers really good value for money. I found the portion sizes are generous on both occasions and the overall dining experience certainly feels worth the price, especially when considering the quality of the food and service.
Ponte Vecchio is well worth a visit, offering a picturesque riverside setting, a solid Italian menu, and welcoming service. Whether you’re stopping by for a leisurely lunch or an evening meal with family, it’s a reliable choice for Italian food in Bath city centre.

Located near the picturesque Pulteney Weir, The Herd Steak Restaurant offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere, ideal for special occasions and family gatherings. The basement setting adds to its charm making it a hidden gem in Bath's vibrant dining scene.
During our visit with my parents to celebrate a birthday, we were delighted by the exquisite taste and perfect preparation of the steaks. The sharing platter allowed us to sample various cuts of meat, each cooked to perfection. The fillet, in particular, was cooked exactly to our requests. Complementing our meal, the Malbec that Karl recommended was delicious and we each ordered the chocolate mousse, proving to be a delight.
The staff's warm nature and exceptional service enhanced our dining experience. Hosts Karl and Ewelina were attentive and ensured that nothing was too much trouble making our evening really special.
Given its popularity and central Bath location, it's advisable to book ahead to avoid disappointment. The restaurant offers great value for the quality of food and service provided.

Nestled in the heart of Bath, Cappadocia Mediterranean Restaurant offers stunning views of the historic Pulteney Bridge. The vibrant décor and lively atmosphere create an inviting space, perfect for both business lunches and family dinners. The restaurant's central location makes it an excellent spot for exploring the town centre before or after your meal.
Cappadocia prides itself on delivering innovative Turkish-Mediterranean dishes prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The menu caters to various dietary requirements, offering gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan options. This restaurant has been recommended a few times by my own guests, staying in one of my holiday cottages close to Bath so I decided to give it a try for a business lunch. I will say I was very impressed by the freshness and authenticity of their Mediterranean flavours. Their moussaka stood out with its rich mince layers with aromatic spices. The restaurant also offers mixed mezze platters, providing an assortment of traditional Turkish starters.
The staff at Cappadocia are known for their warm hospitality. During my visit, Ersin, one of the team members, was particularly accommodating, ensuring that all our needs were met promptly. This attentive service enhanced my lunchtime experience, making me feel valued which would encourage me to go back.
Given its popularity and central location, Cappadocia can become crowded during peak hours, leading to a lively and bustling atmosphere. If you prefer a quieter dining experience, I'd say try to visit during off-peak times, so it might be worth giving them a call to discuss when this might be. The reasonable pricing, combined with the quality of food and service makes it a popular dining destination in the heart of Bath.
Cappadocia Mediterranean Restaurant is a fantastic Turkish eatery! Whether you're in for a quick business lunch (like I did) or a family dinner, the fresh Mediterranean flavours, warm service and stunning views of Pulteney Bridge really make for a memorable dining experience. Their reasonable pricing and varied Turkish menu also mean there’s something for everyone.
Sally's Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) - A must-visit for anyone looking to explore authentic Turkish-Mediterranean cuisine in Bath

The Mint Room in Bath is a modern restaurant that does things differently to many other Indian restaurants I've experienced. The venue is stylish, the atmosphere is warm and from the moment you walk in, you know you're in for something special. It’s perfect for date nights, celebrations or even a business meal.
We went for the Taste of India tasting tour and it didn't disappoint. Every dish we tried tasted really fresh, full of flavour and beautifully presented (which I find can be quite hard to do with a simple curry at home!). We were pleased to see decent-sized portions, not just a small amount of meat with loads of curry sauce trying to hide that fact. The food quality was top notch and the spices were well-balanced rather than overpowering your taste buds.
The staff were brilliant, chatty, very attentive and friendly without being overbearing. The maître d’ took the time to explain each dish in the their tasting menu and his enthusiasm for the food being produced was clear. The whole team made us feel really welcome and no matter what we asked for nothing was ever too much trouble.
For the quality of food and service, The Mint Room we find them to be great value. Prices are very fair, the portion sizes generous and the whole experience feels worth every penny.
If you’re visiting Bath, definitely get in here - it is slightly outside the city centre but it's worth the trip. The Mint Room offers very authentic Indian cuisine, top-notch food and outstanding service in a beautiful setting. Both Steve and I definitely recommend this place if you are fans of curry!
Sally's Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) Absolutely fantastic food and service. One of the best Indian restaurants in Bath without a doubt!
No matter what you're craving, Bath’s city centre has plenty of fantastic dining spots to explore. Whether it’s authentic Italian, Indian, sizzling steaks or fresh Mediterranean flavours, these restaurants offer great food, welcoming atmospheres, and memorable experiences worth coming back for.
